VOTING PROCEDURES

​

  • The Voting Committee will consist of a minimum of five (5) panelists: Industry Choreographers, Directors, and Dancers.

​

  • Members of the Voting Committee are eligible to be nominated for an Virginia Dance Awards, however they will not be able to vote on that category.  The Founder of the Virginia Dance Awards will vote on that specific category in their place.

 

  • The Voting Committee, on behalf of the Virginia Dance Awards, is the final arbiter on any and all final category placement of nominations in the final nomination process.

 

  • The Voting Committee reserves the right to modify any category for reasons including but not limited to lack of nomination submissions.

 

  • The Virginia Dance Awards Voting Committee will tally all nomination votes and set the final nominees for each category.  Any disputes or conflicts regarding the tabulation process will be addressed and handled by the Founder of the Virginia Dance Awards.  

 

  • All final ballots for the recipients of the Virginia Dance Awards will be anonymous.

  • The nominees with the highest total of public votes will be official 2023 Virginia Dance Award Nominees.  If there is a tie, a runoff vote will occur and a winner will be chosen from the totals of the Voting Committee.

NOMINATION REGULATIONS

  • Any one person can submit ONE nominations for each category.  We actually encourage you to nominate a dancer for every category.​
     

  • To be eligible for an Virginia Dance Awards nomination you must be actively participating, dancing and/or working within the dance community throughout the July 15, 2022 - July 15, 2023 calendar year.

​

  • The Virginia Dance Awards is accepting nominations from dance professionals located all across the Commonwealth of Virginia.

​

  • Nominations submissions received after 11:59pm on September 30th, 2023 will not be accepted.

​

  • In the event that a nominated entry is withdrawn or otherwise deemed ineligible, it will be replaced by the nominee that received the next highest number of nomination votes.

​

  • There will be a maximum of three (3) Nominees per category.

​

  • If there is only one (1) Nominee listed in a given category, that category will be removed.

​

  • If there is a tie for the 3rd nomination position, the Voting Committee will review and vote to break the tie.

​

  • The nominees will be announced by October 23rd, 2023.
